Stoličja / Hundred-Faced vol. 2 - live translation

5 Nov 2023 | 18:00 UTC

[POSTPONED] A poetry-translation experiment. Julija "Jules" Savić presents the second in a series of streams of her digital poetry collection Stoličja [Hundred-Faced]. The collection deals with gender and relationships, romantic or otherwise, between individuals and within each of us.

The performance consists of a live, unedited translation of Savić's poems from the original Croatian to English. The artist attempts to present the organic, transformational quality of writing and translation, one that reflects the difficulty of translating our selves for the people we surround ourselves with.

The streams, apart from being spoken work performances, will also portray Savić's development of Stoličja as a multimedia, in-person performance dedicated to human relationality.

Julija Savić, a.k.a. Jules, is a Croatian-English writer, spoken-word performer and translator based in Zagreb.

She describes her life as equally artistic and linguistic: she works as a translator, content writer and copywriter, mostly for clients working in creative industries; and is simultaneously a poet, jewelry maker, art aficionado and a student of culture(s). With nearly a decade of performance experience behind her, she has developed a singular authorial voice that aims to evoke an emotional response in the audience.

She holds an MA in English Literature and Culture, and that education allows her to approach different art forms with an incisive eye, engage in deep reading, and discover the hidden layers within a work of art.
