A.amari (formerly known as Just Wairimu) is a poet with fire in her pen and truth on her tongue. She writes to shake hearts, open minds, and remind us what it means to feel. In her blog, Classical Letters (classicalletters.wordpress.com), she reflects on life’s intricacies, giving a glimpse into what it means to be human.

She’s the voice behind A.amari Speaks—a podcast where she dives into African culture, history, and the power of reclaiming our stories.  It’s guided by truth, fueled by curiosity, and anchored in love for Mama Africa.

A.amari is no stranger to the stage. She’s performed at shows like This Woman Knows War, Mashujaa Love Festival, Give the Woman Her Flowers, and Dreams za Tomorrow. She also curated Kanga Kisses and Matatu Beats, a poetry show exploring love from an African perspective.

Her powerful and heartfelt performances earned her recognition as second runner-up at the Kenya Poetry Grand Slam 2025 and runner-up at the National Women’s Slam 2024.

Her words also live in the anthologies Give the Woman Her Flowers and When We Speak. And when she’s not writing or performing, she’s probably somewhere outside basking in the sun.
