Maria Cohut is a UK-based writer of Romanian origin interested in questions of identity, belonging, displacement, and what makes us human. Her writing features in many online and print publications, including the Borders & Belonging anthology (Cephalopress, 2022), Lines of Communication: A Poetry Anthology (The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press, 2025), The Hyacinth Review, and The Other Side of Hope: Journeys in Refugee and Immigrant Literature, and has also aired on the radio. Her poetry chapbook, Spatter Pattern (back room poetry, 2023), explores the issue of gender violence by reimagining detective fiction tropes. Multiple Exposures (Flight of the Dragonfly, 2026), her first poetry collection, reflects on the struggle of achieving a unified sense of belonging and identity.
