Scarlet Gomez is a queer Dominican Bronx-based poet,

writer, zine-maker, and founder of Poetry House. She's had

several short stories and poems published in literary

journals such as Persephone’s Daughters, Promethean

Magazine, Crabs Fat Magazine, Philadelphia Stories, The A3

Review, Deadass Tho.NYC, and Writer’s HQ.


She received the Esther Unger Poetry Prize from the City

College of New York in 2016. Her most recent and notable

features include opening at the Rupi Kaur x KOTN Open Mic

Night, featuring at The Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe for Womxn

Orator Wednesday, and performing at the NJ Dodge Poetry

Festival. She has performed at other notable venues, such

as Sage Center Brooklyn: Stonewall House, There's A Lot to

Unpack Here, The Inwood Film Festival, Silvana, and Art in

the Basin.

safe spaces for other queer youths to express their art in
