Kevan Anthony Cameron is a creator, poetry editor, and spoken word artist that performs and writes under the name SCRUFFMOUTH. His work includes The Great Black North: African Canadian Poetry (2013, Frontenac House Poetry) Hogan’s Alley Poetry Festival, a project of Black Dot Roots and Culture Collective, as well as SCRUFFMOUTH Spoken Word Notebook, graciously supported by Canada Council for the Arts.


His poems have appeared in film, television, radio, and print. Kevan was born in Edmonton, Alberta

to Jamaican parents and graduated from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC with a Bachelor’s of

General Studies degree.


Kevan "Scruffmouth" Cameron has also been published in ARC Poetry Magazine, PREE Caribbean Lit, Jamaica in theCanadian experience: a multiculturalizing presence, We Have A Voice: African Caribbean Student

Writing, and Stepping Stones: County of Strathcona Grade School Anthology.


Kevan is the owner andfounder of Black Dot Roots and Culture Collective, an initiative aimed at inclusive education and the celebration of afroindigenous heritage and creativity.
