Shanelle Gabriel is an internationally touring artist, educator, and lupus warrior from Brooklyn, NY. Widely known for being featured on HBO's Def Poetry Jam, she has shared her fusion of poetry and singing on stages with artists such as Jill Scott, Nas, and Nikki Giovanni. She has penned and been featured in global poetry campaigns with Pandora Music, LifeWtr, Inc. Magazine, Eden BodyWorks, and more. Shanelle has appeared in mini-documentaries for KitKat, The Nelson Mandela Project, as well as on Lifetime Network on her battle with lupus. She serves as the executive director of Urban Word, a youth organization that uses poetry and hip-hop to promote literacy and youth voice, and founded the National Youth Poet Laureate Program.
